About me

Poorwa playing the violin in a field outsideHi, my name is Poorwa, and I’m a student in Year 12. I am an aspiring medic and wanted to make a difference to the lives of doctors and medical students in the UK, who are experiencing difficult circumstances.

Why the RMBF

I chose to fundraise for the Royal Medical Benevolent Fund (RMBF) because I believe in supporting the people who dedicate their lives to caring for others. Doctors and medical students face immense pressure, both physically and emotionally, often sacrificing their own well-being for their patients.

When I learned how the RMBF provides crucial financial, emotional, and practical support to those struggling in the medical profession, I knew this was the cause that I wanted to contribute to. Fundraising for the RMBF allows me to give back to those who give so much, ensuring they are able to receive support in their most difficult moments.

Supporting the RMBF allowed me to provide help and support to doctors and medical students, who are often under immense pressure- making a tangible difference.

The event

Throughout high school, I have played in various ensembles and concerts, including touring Spain in 2022 as part of an orchestra. Channelling my passion for music and playing the violin, I played at my neighbourhood’s summer gathering, playing classical pieces, such as “Canon in D” by Johann Pachelbel and “Violin Concerto No.1, Op.34” by Oskar Reiding, as well as more modern pieces such as “All of Me” by John Legend and “Can you feel the love tonight” by Elton John.

You can watch some of the concert in this video:

What I enjoyed

Throughout the process, the RMBF team were incredibly supportive and on the whole it was a very rewarding experience. I highly encourage those thinking of fundraising to do so, as it is an excellent opportunity to help those who need it.

Thank you Poorwa, for your beautiful violin playing, helping to make a real difference to medical students and doctors.
