Megan, smiling at the cameraHello! My name is Megan and I’m an F1 doctor from Troon, Scotland, currently working in Altnagelvin Area Hospital, Derry, Northern Ireland.

I became an RMBF volunteer around 6 months ago when I was a medical student. I attended the RMBF conference in London back in June and I was really touched hearing only a handful of stories of how the RMBF has helped doctors who are struggling.

Whether that be financial support for doctors who have had to take time out of training due to ill health, or emotional support for doctors struggling with isolation after being moved to a new location as part of their training.

Now working, I have seen first hand how essential the RMBF is in supporting the longevity of the incredible work force that makes up our NHS.

I decided to run the Belfast Half Marathon to aid the wonderful work done by the RMBF. I had run a few half marathons before, but I largely neglected running towards the end of University because I was stressed with exams.

Entering the run gave me motivation to get back into something I enjoy so much and has been crucial in keeping me sane during my first couple of months as a doctor.

The day itself was so much fun. My mum and dad came over from Scotland to support me and I felt so proud to complete it.Megan sat in a field, wearing t-shirt and shorts and a cap, looking down at her medal
