About Me
My name is Sarah Hadid and I am an aspiring medic in year 12. I have always been passionate about becoming a doctor and also being able to give back to the healthcare community.
I think that raising money for such an amazing charity such as the RMBF was the perfect opportunity to do this, ensuring that my donations were going directly to those who need it most; supporting doctors, medical students and their families in a way to give back to those who dedicate their lives to caring for others.
Why I chose a 25km walk
I decided to complete a 25km walk as my fundraising challenge with my Mum, hopping around hospitals in North London – from Barnet Hospital to Chase Farm hospital to the Royal Free and back home.

Walking has always been something I love to do with my Mum and I think this was a great way of combining something that we both enjoy and putting it towards a good cause.

What I enjoyed
Despite being physically challenging, it was definitely worth it, not only to raise money but also to spend this time together as Year 12 gets even busier, especially for other aspiring medics!

I also ended up winning the winter fundraising challenge and was given the opportunity to speak to a cancer surgeon. This was incredibly informative, giving me insight into working in healthcare today and the challenges and rewards of undertaking this career.
To anyone thinking about fundraising, I can easily say that this experience was so worth it. It deepened my own interest in medicine while also being incredibly rewarding. So even for those that aren’t necessarily looking into studying medicine, I think raising money for a charity like the RMBF who give back to the healthcare systems that we all use and rely on is an amazing experience for all.
Thank you Sarah for all your hard work, both fundraising and taking part in the 25km walk. You’re making a difference to doctors and medical students who are in desperate need – thank you.
