The list is by no means exhaustive, so we suggest that you do further research, and read our tips on applying to charitable trusts.
BMA Medical Educational Trust
Grants for students taking Medicine as a second degree who have debts exceeding £25,000 and who do not have access to fee loans or the NHS Bursary Scheme. Applications are made an academic year in advance. Application packs are available from November to mid January and the deadline for completed applications is 31st January.

The Carnegie Trust for the Universities of Scotland
Help with fees and undergraduate vacation scholarships. Applicants must be attending Scottish universities, and be Scottish by birth, descent or residence. To be eligible the applicant must also show that s/he would suffer hardship if assistance was not given. The Follett Trust
Grants are made to students in higher education, including scholarships. Please note this trust accepts only solicited applications via a care agency or similar, rather than independent applications. Please email or call for more details.

The Foulkes Foundation
Supporting outstanding post-doctoral scientists wishing to undertake a medical degree, in order to make a significant contribution to medical research in all its diverse disciplines.
The Foulkes Foundation invites applications for Fellowships from recently qualified scientists and medical graduates. Applicants should have a PhD or equivalent degree and should intend to contribute to medical research.
Gilchrist Educational Trust
Grants of up to £1000 for students nearing the end of their degree facing unexpected financial difficulties which may prevent them from completing the course.

Helena Kennedy Foundation
The Foundation exists to overcome social injustice by providing financial bursaries, mentoring and support to disadvantaged students from the further and adult education sectors, enabling them to complete their studies in higher education and move on successfully into employment.
One-off grants to people who were denied opportunity to continue their higher education first time around. Applicants must be currently attending an FE or 6th form college and applications must be endorsed by the college. See website for more details and application form.

Hilda Martindale Educational Trust
The Trust is only able to support women who are British Nationals, taking a course or training to follow a profession or career in areas where women are underrepresented. Further eligibility criteria apply.

Awards are made once per year for the next academic year and deadlines are strictly applied. Ad hoc requests for grants/awards cannot be considered.

The Institute of Medical Ethics
A charitable organisation whose mission is promoting and supporting the impartial study and understanding of medical ethics and its integration into clinical practice through education, research, and publication. They are involved in organising conferences and providing grants to students interested in medical ethics.

The Nurses Association of Jamaica (UK)
The Nurses Association of Jamaica (NAJ) (UK) is a national non-profit making charitable Association formed in 1978 that gives one-off grants of £50 – 300 for students of health education or sciences, primarily from black and minority groups, especially African-Caribbean. Preferences given to those living in Birmingham, Nottingham, London and internationally. Apply online in February or August.

Ruth Hayman Trust
The trust is a small charity which supports the education and training of adults who have come to settle in the UK, and who speak a language other than English as their first language, with small grants of up to £500. Grants are given for course related costs such as course and exam fees, and sometimes for books. Applications must include an academic reference. The Sidney Perry Foundation
The trust aims primarily to help first degree students. Students must be younger than 35 when the course starts. Eligible foreign students studying in Britain can also apply. Postgraduates may also receive support.
Sir Richard Stapley Educational Trust
The trust considers applications from students pursuing courses in medicine, dentistry and veterinary studies taken as a second degree, and postgraduate degrees in any subject. Applications are welcome from students beginning their first year of study, as well as from those already embarked on their degree course. To be eligible, students must be based in the UK and accepted on, or applying for, a place on a course at a UK institution.
The trust has one annual grant round opening on the first working days in January and usually closing a few days later. The next annual grant round is for the academic year 2024/25 and will open on 2 January 2024. Please see their website for further details.

The Victoria Foundation
The Victoria Foundation aims to ensure that young people who may not otherwise be able to study are given the opportunity to do so. They provide funds on a bursary basis to those with proven academic ability, drive and ambition to succeed. You can apply by completing their application form and sending this by fax, email or post.
