240km and counting...
Christopher’s journey to running the London Marathon in support of the Royal Medical Benevolent Fund is now taking a bigger step:
‘I just want to open again with a big thank you to everyone who has sponsored me so far. We’ve raised over £550 for The RMBF!
During my first two months of training I have run a total of 240km, burned over 20,000 calories and have spent approximately 20hrs on the road!
I have now entered the second half of my program and training has taken a real big step up.
I have added a second long run each week, including my main run on Sundays. This extra 10km run had really taken its toll during the early weeks which unfortunately resulted in a small leg injury. This kept me from training as much as I wanted, but with some rest and a painful physio session I only missed one full week of training.
I have since replaced one mid-week run with a session in the swimming pool, this has kept the strain off my legs and knees and I am able to recover that little bit quicker from week to week.
My upcoming run on the 15th March will give me a strong idea of where I am for my Marathon time. It’s a 2hr30min run and I hope to get somewhere in the region of 30km.
If I can get near that distance I would be extremely happy as its only 12km more for a marathon distance.
Once again a big thank you for all your support and donations so far!’
